The (mis)guided Tours
2019 -
|
The (mis)guided Tours aims to disrupt the conventional approach to guided tours by questioning established narratives and exploring innovative formats for guided walking tours.
The first edition of The (mis)guided Tours was presented at Porto Design Biennale. Four artists and two art collectives were invited to create original walking tours connecting their artistic interests with different areas in the city. Working closely with the curator, each artist/collective created one walking tour approaching themes such as urban transformation and gentrification, feminism, ephemeral collectiveness, drawing and urban space perception, sustainability and activism, and colonialism. Conducted by professionals from various fields, each tour proposes a unique and creative approach to operate in the urban environment. The project understands the urban space as a complex network of objective and subjective elements becoming the ideal battleground for multidisciplinary debates involving art, architecture, design and politics. Oporto Feminist Walking Tour
2019 -
Porto - Portugal |
This project was created due to a need to rethink the city of Porto and its history through a more politically-engaged, activist and feminist point of view. Starting with the city's toponymy and including many amazing untold stories we found during research, we designed this city walk to propose a review on the city's history and monuments, questioning the way women's stories are remembered, celebrated and, unfortunately, repeatedly erased. This political walk was created in honor of Ana Plácido, Carolina Michaelis, Gisberta and Henriqueta da Conceição and many other women who are a essential part of Porto's history. As we walk we claim our right to the city, questioning its past and delineating its future.
You can book this tour via Airbnb Experiences [not available due to COVID-19] This project was created together with the collective MAAD - Mulheres, Arte, Arquitetura & Design. |
